The main thing to remember about vocation is that it is an invitation; an invitation from Christ Himself.  It is an invitation; not a command.  The Lord forces no one to share His life of poverty, chastity, and obedience.  When the rich young man of the Gospel turned and walked away from Him, Christ was sorry, but he wasn't angry.  He was sorry that one to whom He had given His divine Heart could not find it in his own heart to love Him in return.  A vocation is an invitation; or, if you will, it is a falling in love.  All are commanded to love of God; but to fall in love with God is something else again.  It is to leave father and mother and the tents of one's tribe apart; to rise from the cosy hearth and the circle of friends in the firelight, to push aside uncounted the bright coins in the counting house, to take one last look at the dear security of home, and meet Christ at the gate, and go.

Sometimes we wonder why they are so happy, these men and women who have turned their backs on happiness.  For they are happy; no question of that.  All of us have seen a nun smile; all of us have seen a priest play football with his altar boys.  What is the secret of their serenity; whence comes their joy?  Homeless, scattered broadcast by obedience over the whole wide world, they are found by the wanderer in far forgotten corners beyond ultimate seas, at home.  The candid camera catches them teasing a grin on the chubby faces of Chinese orphans; and they bawl crazy parodies in a Jap internment camp exactly as they might in the parish hall at Altoona.  Defenseless, without an armament of any kind, they yet seem to have forgotten the very name of fear; they cross deserts and ice floe as they would the corner of Lexington and Park; they are on the Franklin when it is hit, they jump with the paratroops on Aachen, they wade ashore with the first wave at Iwo Jima.  Vowed to virginity until death, they are not strangers to the miracle of fatherhood and motherhood; all their lives, they are surrounded by laughing children; boys and girls bring them their hearts and their growing pains and find deep in their kindly eyes a healing that the world cannot give.  They are fathers and mothers to whole cities; they stand at the crossroads of the world ladling soup to the hungry and binding the wounds of conquered nations; the sorrows and sins of men are left daily at doorsteps, and in exchange they give, out of the inexhaustible abundance of their hearts, peace.

What is their secret?  They are in love.  They have fallen in love with Christ, renounced for Christ the handful of happiness that world can offer, and in exchange Christ has given them - Himself.  Poet's since the world's beginning have found words of little worth to describe the glory of human love and human friendship; what then must it be to have for friend and lover the Son of God?  If, therefore, we have a son or daughter who hears the call of Christ, and stands to answer it, let us not hinder them, but gladly go with them to the gate, and bless them as they go.  For they have chosen wisely; they have chosen Christ.  They will not find it easy, no; for who travels with Christ climbs a steep road; the morning of it is full of the business of the world's salvation, a heavy business always, and often a weary one; and perhaps in the middle distance, in the glaring heat of noon, there shall be a cross to carry, and sharp nails for hands and feet; but somehow, even when the path is fiercest, there shall be joy always, for that is the miracle of falling in love with Christ; and in the end, when the shadows lengthen, and the stars come out, He will be there as always, pointing across the very little way there shall be left to go, at the lights of home.

We, envision a Mother of Good Counsel Seminary that promotes a participatory Church. We therefore, commit ourselves to the formation of candidates to the diocesan presbyteral ministry into servant leaders.

Good day! I'm Carlo David and I'm a diocesan seminarian for the Diocese of Auckland, New Zealand. But I was born in Magalang, Pampanga so I'm a full blooded Kapampangan. I am just glad to find this MGCS website. I really wanted to be in touch with Kapampangan seminarians and this website is indeed helpful. I wish you; my brother seminarians all the best on your journey towards priesthood. I ask that you pray for us here in New Zealand, ditak na la talaga kasi deng mag pari keni. New Zealand has only one national seminary (Holy Cross Seminary, Auckland) that accomodate seminarians from 5 diocese and 1 archdiocese pero our number in only 17. That's the whole community. I also heard that the Archdiocese of San Fernando is sending a couple of priest for our neighbouring diocese of hamilton. Gud pm im Andrey Tan from olongapo city Diocese of Iba Zambales. gusto ko pong mag inquire kung pano makapasok dyan sa inyo. balak ko po kasing mag aral sa inyo ng pagpapari dahil yan po ang pangarap ko sa buhay. at the present i am a graduating college student from columban college here in olongapo city taking up Bachelor of Arts in English language (AB- E) and after my graduation dun plng po ako mag aaral dyan sa inyo. gusto ko lng po malaman kung pwede pa po ba ako makapag aral dyan since graduate na ako from college at professional na ako? thank you very much and god bless po!
